I just want to point out one thing here: When was the last time the girl kissed the boy in a teen romance? Ever? Has it happened ever? I seriously think it might not have happened ever.

the difference between spock/uhura and scotty/uhura is spock/uhura have genuine fans many in pop culture. scotty/uhura fans are spirk fans in disguise trying to force uhura with scotty because it clears their part of the brainless and perverted spirk ship that is basically a sexual fantasy for fan girls with IQ less than a 100. its the only reason why they make sex the end point to all male friendships…pathetic.

I actually like both.
In TOS universe, Scotty and Uhura are, I will not say “in a relationship” but certainly at least starting one or looking like they are starting one in the movies. And I like that idea. TOS Uhura is strong and great at her job, but also relaxed and playful in a way that the new Uhura isn’t. She is also very softly feminine and sweet, with a touch of maternity. TOS Scotty is also playful and relaxed, kind of masculine, and he preserves a touch of childish enthusiasm that fits TOS Uhura very well. TOS Uhura is also OK with Scotty’s love/obsession for his job, and she supports it.
In the new universe, Uhura is with Spock, undeniably. A Spock who is a lot younger and more conflicted than TOS Spock. This Uhura is also far more serious and hard, and less affectionate. I like them together, even though I think the movies fail to explore the possibilities of that relationship and seem to have introduced it only to put Uhura in Bones place as the third piece of the Enterprise triumvirate, thus incorporating the token strong female character required by today’s standards.
I think it is a perfectly believable relationship for these versions of the characters, but I think it requires further development. It would be interesting to explore how Spock deals with her emotional needs, and how she deals with his lack of physical and verbal affection.
I see no need to choose one. I like Kirk/Spock and Uhura/Scotty in TOS and Uhura/Spock in the new alternative timeline.

Boring.
I am not saying you need to choose. no one should choose. However I care about the credibility and authenticity of shipping. the truth is that scotty/uhura have no real and honest fan base and this is what i was pointing out. the ship never sailed with a few fans talk less of a majority of fans, there were together  in trek 5. a film that bombed at the box office and is usually regarded as the worst trek film of all time.  the romance is hardly remembered in trek and totally forgettable. they have never made a trek couple best list on official trek sites and trek magazine. spock/uhura are always on the  trek  best couples list based on trek 2009.  scotty/uhura  never reached the potential super couple status that infatuated and captivated people like spock/uhura did in star  trek 2009. Come on,  even the Simpsons paid tribute to their relationship. this is how popular they became after the film was released in 2009. it is all most people talk about. Many film critics also viewed the relationship favourably. scotty/uhura are no where close in that kind of attention and popularity.
people can ship any pairing but what I am against is spirk fans trying to force uhura and scotty to be  in a relationship in the alternate timeline ,so that it will be easier for spock to have anal sex with kirk….its embarrassing and pathetic. Considering how the two guys have called each other friends
this is what I am against.
Research it  or click on  tumblr users who talks about how much they love uhura/scotty.  they always…always turn out to be   spirk fans  and you just proved it as you have just said  you like scotty/uhura and kirk/spock in one form or the other.
which means scotty/uhura have no real credibility as a ship because the only reason why fangirls are shiping scotty/uhura is that it makes it more flexible to ship spirk and that is very disrespectful  to all the characters involved  with ship.
Also spock/uhura have male and female fans.  spirk has only female fans because like all slash ships, it is a sexual fantasy for girls. this is why spock/uhura are the superior pairing. it represents realism, spirk is porn fantasy for women and women only.
the bottom line as as long as all scotty/uhura fans are spirk fans, the ship will never have credibility and this is the truth dumb fangirls will have to accept..

I agree that there is no base at all for Scotty/Uhura happening in the alternative universe, I don’t even remember them having one single conversation in the two movies. Plus, it’d be a waste of the Uhura/Spock relationship. I would cry my eyes out if they ditched that at this point without having properly explored it.
That said, I don’t think there is a need for a ship to have credibility. Shipping is for fun and for personal exploration, not a political party. I don’t even know what credibility means when refered to a shipping. Shipping doesn’t require any pairing to be canon, IMO. You can imagine anything you like about characters you enjoy, both platonically and romantically, but you can’t demand writers to make what you imagine happen. I don’t even think TOS Kirk and Spock were together at any point.
Clarification on my personal views: I wouldn’t say I ship Scotty and Uhura in TOS universe either. I never wrote or read anything directly about them. When I watched ST V and Shatner included that playful scene between them, I thought “Hey, that’s sweet.”. I think they fit well enough and I like them together, but I don’t find anything interesting in them, just a functional, happy and sweet couple. No conflict to explore. I find Uhura/Spock in the new universe far more interesting and I think it’d be a change for the worse if they broke them up and paired Uhura with Scotty. I still feel they did Spock/Uhura just to make Uhura more relevant, which I find problematic (a female character shouldn’t need to be anyone’s romantic interest to be relevant), but it will be great if they write it properly from now on.
Also I don’t like sexual Kirk/Spock fanfiction, personally.

I do not think they made uhura spock’s girlfriend to make her relavant that is ignorance on your part. uhura is a female lead. they needed a female lead.all films especially blockbuster films have female leads  and she is a female lead fulfilling the role.
Somtimes I do wonder the intelligence of star trek fangirls, I personally think this girls are either ignorant or have naturally chosen to be dumb so that they can fulfil their kirk and spock sex fantasy. I  am not referring to you in particular.
let me give you a personal example. Uhura is no different from Trinity in the Matrix trilogy or Padme from the star wars Prequels, in fact she is more relevant and is more 3 dimensional  than padme, a character who had no basis in the  star wars orognal trilogy. she was however created in the prequels to solely be the mum of luke and leia.
Yet  the star wars female fans hardly disrespect her character but trek female fans like you keep making this utterly disrespectful comments that uhura was only made relevant to be spock’s girlfriend. it shows a level of ignorance on your poart because if you watch the first film which is 2 hours. In the first hour it was an easy guess that she would have ended up with Kirk not spock .
no one knew of her relationship with spock till the 2nd half of the film. all we knew of her was that she was top of her class and was a popular girl in school.
In addition to this the romance only took about 7 minutes of the 2 hour film and even less in the sequel (a film I hate by the way) which means spock and uhura were mostly apart for the majority of the films. so in theory it is incorrect to say she was made relevant by being his girlfriend.
this is what spirk fans like to use to attack her. its kind of pathetic and it shows little intelligence from you girls.
Spirk fans keep using words like problematic and feminism all the time when it comes to uhura, yet they do not even understand it. which is why I said many of them have an IQ of less than 100.

I am not a girl, thank you, I am old enough to qualify as a woman. And I don’t think they made her Spock’s girlfriend for her to be relevant, but for her to take Bones’ place in the triumvirate, as I said in my first response, which is quite different. I just didn’t repeat that.

LOL……..Now I can officially say it you are stupid and an embarrassment. you are also a closeted spirk shipper because you sound just like them, they also use the whole she is taking Bones place to hate on her.
I will also add that you an idiot, ignorant and also not afraid to use our white privileged. something I myself ignored until I got into trek.
First of all. Uhura took no ones place. the fact that you do not know this proves why you are an idiot and an  ignorant.
The writers of trek said they were telling a Kirk and Spock story. it was always about Kirk and spock. the writers chose to remove bones from the tos trio and made it a duo.  its not Uhura’s fault. Iit can be her fault because she is not a male she is a female character.
you speak like the brainless typical fangirl because like brainless fangirls they do not do any research  films and show they watch, the only watch for the hot guys and  they talk out of their stinky ass.
Rob Orci said the film is modelled after Paul Mcarthany and John Lennon ’s relationship  from the Beatles. he based the kirk and spock friendship on that. so how can you say she is taking Bones place? when the writers said they are focusing on two leads only kirk and spock.

Uhura is a female lead. she has nothing to do with Bones because all films must have female leads regardless of the male characters.
to prove my theory further.
In the lord of the rings  film trilogy, the role of Ewoyn was extended  in comparison to the books  and  the director still  kept the 9 members of the fellowship of the ring.  it did not mean every time ewoyn was on screen she took one of the fellowship member’s place.
You call yourself a woman but you are not. You are a brainless teenage fan girl and a  fool that understands nothing about fiction.
you call yourself a woman but look at you throwing uhura (another woman) under the bus to uplift the men without getting the facts on how the characters are written.
You also did no research on the new  trek films.if you did, you would have known uhura took no one place. the writers wanted a female  lead like all films must have  and they chose between uhura and chapel. Buy the DVD and listen to the commentary or read SFX magazines on the writers interviews of the making on star trek 2009 and 2013.

now unto the white privilege part. Uhura is a woman of colour, how often do you see women of colour in blockbuster films? 1% 5% 10%?
But trek gets one and all this bullshit insults starts. oh she is taking bones place blah blah blah…it is how brainless white fangirls baffon like you talk with your ignorance and pure  stupidity.
You have an IQ of less than 50, as you could not challenge my post on padme and trinity from the matrix and star wars prequels. you ignored the concept of a female lead and said she Uhura is taking Bones place with no evidence or  research to support your claim, you talk out your ass that has not been wiped well and that decreasing your IQ. Which makes you a dumb fangirl and not a woman.

Please get a brain next time before you reblog me.
You claim you like uhura or uhura/spock but all you writings proves you dont as you talk exactly  like all the uhura haters who are spirk fans. BRAINLESS WHITE FANGIRLS  who only care about anal sex between hot male  leads like kirk and spock.

YOU NEED TO GET LOST. I COULD SLAP YOU FROM THE INTERNET.

Internationally-acclaimed singing sensation Celestina Warbeck (sometimes known as ‘the Singing Sorceress’) hails from Wales. Her father, a minor functionary in the Muggle Liaison Office, met her Muggle mother (a failed actress) when the latter was attacked by a Lethifold disguised as a stage curtain.
Celestina’s extraordinary voice was apparent from an early age. Disappointed to learn that there was no such thing as a wizarding stage school, Mrs Warbeck reluctantly consented to her daughter’s enrolment at Hogwarts, but subsequently bombarded the school with letters urging the creation of a choir, theatre club and dancing class to showcase her daughter’s talents.
Frequently appearing with a chorus of backing banshees, Celestina’s concerts are justly famous. Three devoted fans were involved in a nasty three-broom pile up over Liverpool while trying to reach the last night of her ‘Flighty Aphrodite’ tour, and her tickets often appear on the black market at vastly inflated prices (one reason why Molly Weasley has never yet seen her favourite singer live).
Celestina has sometimes lent her name and talents to good causes, such as raising funds for St Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries with a recording of Puddlemere United’s anthem ‘Beat Back Those Bludgers, Boys, and Chuck That Quaffle Here’. More controversially, Celestina was vocal in her disagreement when the Ministry of Magic sought to impose restrictions on how the wizarding community was allowed to celebrate Hallowe’en.
Some of Celestina’s best-known songs include You Charmed the Heart Right Out of Me and A Cauldron Full of Hot, Strong Love. Her fans are usually older people who love her grandstanding style and powerful voice. The late 20th-century album You Stole My Cauldron but You Can’t Have My Heart was a massive global hit.
Celestina’s personal life has provided much fodder for the gossip columns of the Daily Prophet. An early marriage to a backing dancer lasted only a year; Celestina then married her manager, with whom she had a son, only to leave him for the composer Irving Warble ten years later.
